AWKA, Anambra – The governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the upcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election, Ozo Jeff Nweke, on Tuesday brought activities in Awka, the state capital, to a standstill as his campaign rally drew an unprecedented crowd of supporters.
The massive roadshow, which traversed Awka, Nibo, Umuokpu, and Amaenyi communities in Awka South Local Government Area, saw markets, shops, and offices temporarily closed as residents poured into the streets to welcome the AA candidate and his campaign team.
Addressing supporters after the rally, Ozo Nweke declared that the people of Anambra were ready for a new direction in governance, saying that his candidacy represents the “change that Anambra desperately needs.”
“From my experience and interactions with Ndi Anambra, it is clear that our people desire change—and I am that change waiting to happen,”
“By God’s grace, the people have accepted me, and I believe I will be declared the next governor of Anambra State.”he stated.
On the issue of security, Nweke expressed optimism that fears of violence or voter intimidation would not affect the credibility of the poll.
Drawing from his background as a security expert, he assured that the security agencies were fully prepared to ensure a peaceful exercise.
“I do not foresee any security issues during the election. As a security professional, I can confidently say that the security operatives are well-prepared. From my professional assessment, there will be no disruptions,” he added.
Reacting to the recent signing of the peace accord by all candidates, Nweke commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its newly appointed Chairman for their commitment to transparency and fairness.
“We were present at the signing of the peace accord, and all candidates pledged to accept the outcome of the election in good faith. The new INEC Chairman has assured us that this election will be credible and transparent, and we are holding him to that promise,” he said.
Nweke also appealed to his fellow contestants to see the election as a brotherly contest rather than a do-or-die affair, emphasizing that the ultimate goal should be the advancement of Anambra State.
“Elections should not divide us. What matters most is the good governance and prosperity of Anambra. If, at the end of the day, the people choose otherwise, I will gladly accept their decision and continue to contribute to the development of our state,” he stated.
Ozo Jeff Nweke reiterated his vision for a prosperous, secure, and united Anambra State, where every citizen enjoys the dividends of democracy and where the government operates with transparency, accountability, and compassion.
“My dream is to see a thriving Anambra where everyone is happy, productive, and proud to call this state home,” he added.
