JERUSALEM – Israel has slapped an immediate BAN on the International Red Cross (ICRC) visiting convicted terrorists held in its prisons, citing an unprecedented national security threat.
Defence Minister Israel Katz signed the shocking order this morning, slamming the door shut on what has long been a standard humanitarian access point.
The move instantly cuts off the humanitarian group’s ability to check on the welfare of imprisoned militants.
Minister Katz made no apology for the dramatic step, insisting he was acting to protect the nation.
He stated: “Based on the information presented to me, it is clear beyond any doubt that Red Cross visits to terrorists would pose a serious threat to national security.”
The order takes effect immediately, preventing the Red Cross from seeing prisoners who are often high-ranking members of terror groups.
Sources close to the Ministry of Defence hinted the visits were being exploited to pass messages or intelligence, undermining the Jewish state’s safety.
The news broke via a cryptic social media message linked to the Israeli intelligence community.
