ENUGU, Nigeria – Governors of the South Eastern part of Nigeria have vowed to do everything possible to ensure that there is no more sit at home in the region.
The governors made the vows in a communiqué after their meeting on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 in Enugu, about 72 hours after former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Charles Soludo said that every sit at home day ordered by Indegenous People of Biafra(IPOB) costs Anambra State alone N17.6 billion.
They said they will ensure that people move freely within the zone during any sit-at-home. The governors agreed that Ebubeagu, the security outfit of the South Eastern region be launched, backed up by relevant laws by the state assemblies before the end of the year.
The governors also agreed to support security agencies to restore peace in the region. The governors resolved to support the November 6 election in Anambra State and called on security agencies to ensure that the election is peaceful, free and fair.
The governors mandated clergymen, traditional rulers, Bishops and CAN to continue to dialogue with the youths for peace in the region.
