KATSINA, Nigeria – The Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has fined Malumfashi  FC and Kogi United FC  for match disruption in the match played on 14th July, 2021 at ALC Stadium, Malumfashi, Katsina State.

Both teams were fined a total sum of N1.8 million for breaches during the encounter.  Malumfashi FC was fined the sum of NGN1,000,000 for disturbances

and encroachment by its supporters in breach of 16.1 of the NNL Rules. Malumfashi FC is also fined the sum of NGN300,000 for breach of the

COVID-19 Protocol.

By refusing to continue with the match for a period of up to five minutes Kogi United FC acted in breach of 14.8 of the NNL Rules and fined the sum of NGN500,000.00. Furthermore,  Kogi United FC shall  also forfeit the match to Malumfashi FC by 3 points, 3 goals, the NFF has ruled.

Kogi United had protested against encroachment on the field of play, assault on its technical team and insecurity at the match venue. With the scores at 1-0, the match was disrupted and eventually abandoned after the away team, Kogi United FC was awarded a penalty in the 43rd minute.

Upon consideration of the official match reports as well as the submissions of the parties,  the NFF ruled that there were breaches of the COVID-19 Protocols as spectators were present during the match.

“After a penalty was awarded to the away team (Kogi United FC), there

was disturbance and encroachment caused by the supporters of the home

team (Malumfashi FC) protesting against the decision of the Referee.

“Afterwards, the Referee signaled for play to continue with the taking of the penalty kick. However, Kogi United refused to continue playing due to their alleged complaints about the security at the match venue. Despite the signal from the Referee and the assurances from the Match Commissioner as to their safety, Kogi United still refused to continue with the match.

The delay caused by Kogi United FC’s refusal to continue with the match lasted for up to 35 minutes, after which the match was consequently abandoned hence the fine and forfeiture of points to Malumfashi FC.

The decision is without prejudice to the right of appeal. In attendance are Musa Amadu, Esq. (Chairman), Prof. Olufemi Adegbesan (Vice Chairman), Damon N. Dashe, Esq (Member), Chike Onyeacho, Esq.
