AWKA, Anambra – The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Anambra State chapter, has honoured the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, with a Compassionate Service Award in recognition of her exceptional leadership in driving a transformative, humanitarian initiative—Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo.
The award was formally presented during a “One-Day Health and Economic Awareness Workshop” held in Awka to commemorate the 2025 International Workers’ Day.
Speaking on behalf of the Anambra workforce, the NLC State Chairman, Comrade Humphrey Nwafor, lauded Mrs. Soludo’s visionary efforts in promoting a culture of health consciousness and well-being across the state.
He said that the Healthy Living initiative has evolved into a statewide movement, profoundly influencing health behavior and awareness among thousands of residents.
“Through her passionate advocacy, Mrs. Soludo has inspired a new era of preventive health culture among the people of Anambra. This initiative has not only raised awareness but significantly contributed to the improvement of the state’s public health index,” Nwafor stated.
The NLC also applauded her tireless contributions to various socio-political causes, including her proactive stance against domestic violence, child labour, and human trafficking, as well as her support for enhancing social welfare and expanding access to healthcare services for women and children.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Governor’s wife, the Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, highlighted the impact of the initiative, noting that it has successfully bridged the gap between health awareness and practical lifestyle choices.
He described the programme as a critical tool in reshaping public perception of health, wellness, and responsible living.
Mrs. Soludo, in a detailed message, outlined the campaign’s evolving scope—now incorporating an agro-based revolution, regular community fitness sessions, nutritional support for children, and youth mobilization at the grassroots level.
She reaffirmed her commitment to building strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders to expand the programme’s reach and deepen its impact.
In her remarks, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Anambra workforce for the honour, describing it as a profound encouragement to continue serving humanity with renewed passion and focus.
