BENIN CITY, Nigeria – The Edo State Government has announced that it is shutting  down the state owned newspaper, the Nigerian Observer.

In a statement, Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie said the newspaper will be shut for a period of one month for reorganization and relaunch.

In the meantime all staff of the Nigerian Observer have been redeployed to the Ministry of Communication and Orientation with immediate effect, where they will receive directives on their new responsibilities.

The state government assured readers of Nigerian Observer that the newspaper will return to the newsstand  shortly, better and improved.
