Health officials in Africa dealing with the Ebola Virus

August 4, 2014 – A Nigerian doctor that attended to Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian that died at First Consultant in Lagos has tested positive to the dread Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Dr. Onyebuchi Chukwu made the revelation while speaking at a press conference in Abuja.

The minister said eight persons that also had first degree contact with the Liberian who naturalized as an American have also been quarantined and are now under strict observation.

Sawyer died about four days after flying into Nigeria on his way to Calabar for a conference of the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS). He has since been cremated.
Ebola has killed 729 people in West Africa.
