LAGOS, Nigeria – The All Progressive Grand Alliance(APGA) has condemned what it described as endless massacre of Nigerians in the North and called on President Muhammadu Buhar leg government to take up responsibility and stop the killings instead of merely folding arms as Nigeria makes a rapid plunge into Hobbsian state of nature, where life is short, brutish and nasty.
APGA issued the statement just as former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili has embarked on solo protest march to Aso Rock where she was interrupted, manhandled and prevented from entering the villa by armed men and DSS. She was protesting the killing of over 200 people in Plateau State by Fulani herdsmen.
APGA said in a statement that each time there is killing, the president will say the killers will be brought to book and the next day the killers will resume, sometimes doubling the numbers they killed previously.
APGA added that it is completely heart broken and devastated by the increasing spate of violence and unending massacre of innocent Nigerians in the Middle belt region and other parts of the country. #PlateauMassacre #StopTheKillings
“The @MBuhari led government must take responsibility and urgently stop these killings rather than fold arms and watch as Nigeria makes a rapid plunge into the Hobbessian state of nature – where life is short, brutish and nasty. #PlateauMassacre #StopTheKillings
“After every killing, Mr President will say: “will we bring the killers to book”! The following day, the killers will kill again, sometimes, doubling the number they killed previously. Now we understand what Babachir means when he said: “Who is the presidency”? #StopTheKillings
“As a party, we are completely heart broken and devastated by the increasing spate of violence and unending massacre of innocent Nigerians in the Middle belt region and other parts of the country. #PlateauMassacre #StopTheKillings”, the party said.
