LAGOS, Nigeria – Officials of the State Security Service have summoned key officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) over postponement of the 2019 general elections.

The Presidential and National Assembly elections hitherto scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16 has been shifted to Feb. 23, while the Governorship and House of Assembly election originally scheduled for March 2 has been shifted to March 9, 2019.

INEC has attributed the postponement to logistics. According to Premium Times, those summoned include head operations and logistics, Okechukwu Ibeanu, Chidi Nwafor, the Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Ken Ukeagu; Osaze Uzzi, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity and Bimbo Oladunjoye, the Assistant Director of ICT.

These officials according to the newspaper are required to appear at the SSS office by 2 PM today.
