ABUJA, Nigeria – The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has set aside the decision of Nationwide League Organization, NLO cancelling the result of the match encounter between Franceex United FC and Bison FC on allegation of match fixing.
In a statement, the NFF said the allegation was based on the fact that Franceex United FC scored nine goals against Bison FC and without evidence to substantiate the match fixing allegation.
The Committee found out that, Franceex United FC was never invited to respond to the allegation of match fixing levelled against them at any time material in the course of investigation by the NLO.
Besides, that the match official report did not confirm the case of match fixing as stated by the NLO in their report.
FINDINGS:
1. The Committee found out that the case of alleged match fixing levelled against Franceex United FC was based on the fact that Franceex United FC scored 9 goals against Bison FC.
2. The Committee found out that, Franceex United FC was never invited to respond to the allegation of match fixing levelled against them at any time material in the course of investigation by the NLO.
3. That the match official report did not confirm the case of match fixing as stated by the NLO in their report.
4. There was no sufficient evidence to substantiate the alleged case of match fixing against Franceex United FC and Bison FC as submitted by the NLO
DECISIONS:
Based on the above findings, the Committee decides as follows:
1. In the absence of sufficient evidence to show that the match between Franceex United FC v. Bison FC was fixed by both Franceex United FC and Bison FC, and the fact that both teams were denied fair hearing, the decision of NLO of cancelling the result of the two matches is hereby set aside pending the outcome of further investigation.
2. In view of the gravity of the offence of match fixing, the Committee hereby directs the NFF Integrity Unit to carry out thorough and proper investigation into the allegations.
3. That the above decisions are without prejudice to the right of appeal.
