INEC Flays False Reports on Elections

[wysija_form id=”1″]April 11, 2015 – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it is alarmed at false reports that have been published about INEC officials and other people on duty during the general elections.

In a series of tweets,  INEC disclosed that most of the reports in the social media are false and called on the media to verify reports with INEC before putting it in the media.

“Please try to verify reports before sending them to us. We have received a lot of false reports today. We will post some shortly”, INEC said on Tweeter.

In some of the tweets, INEC said that contrary to reports, “No INEC staff at Ward 8 Oredo, Edo was caught giving an INEC stamp to the ward chairman of a political party.

“No materials were hijacked at Ikon Akata and Esa Ekpo villages, Mkpatenin, Akwa Ibom State.

“Security agents in PU:018 Kwara/Illorin did not threaten to boycott elections if party agents don’t give the money.

“The report about fake result sheets and ballot papers provided at PUs are false. INEC produced the materials and guarantees its authenticity.

“Earlier reports of simultaneous accreditation and voting in 31/05/07/028 in Plateau state has been  confirmed false”, INEC said, stressing that all the reports were false.

It also promised to resolve report of 30 armed naval officers.
