AMAWBIA, Anambra, Nigeria – National Directorate of Employment, NDE, has commenced training of no fewer than 30 women on wig making, turban and decorative painting in Anambra state.
Addressing the women trainees during the opening ceremony at the NDE state headquarters, Amawbia, Awka South local government area, State Coordinator, Mrs. Chika Ufele said the NDE cardinal programmes were designed to create jobs among the unemployed persons through vocational skills acquisition, transient job placement, entrepreneurship training and most often enterprise creation.
According to her, ” In all these programmes, special attention is given to women by designing peculiar schemes that would suit their home management and cottage activities for income generation.
” In the past, they have been trained on Cosmetology, Bead making, Hat making and Food processing and packaging. Today, another training session on how to make Wig, Turban and Decorative paint making is being organized for thirty Women in Anambra State as a way of empowering them to become self-employed.”
Ufele further said that the training would run for a period of five days and she encouraged the women trainees to persevere and complete the training for their future endeavours.
“Entrepreneurship has emerged as the potent economic force in the face of mass unemployment and government recognizes the large number of women in the country’s population as a potential source of national development,” the State Coordinator stated.
Ufele however thanked the Director General of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo for his fatherly role in making the programme possible, expressing hope that beneficiaries will reciprocate the gesture by being punctual throughout the training and make judicious use of the fund that would be given to them to better their life and that of their families.
