YENAGOA — The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Samuel Ogbuku, PhD, has congratulated the government and people of Bayelsa State as the state celebrates the 30th anniversary of its creation.
Reflecting on the state’s journey over the past three decades, Ogbuku noted that Bayelsa was created to bring government closer to the people, enhance administrative efficiency, and accelerate the socio-economic development of rural and urban communities across the state.
The NDDC Chief Executive praised successive military and civilian administrations for their respective contributions toward building a modern state, observing that each leadership era added vital building blocks to Bayelsa’s infrastructure and socio-economic transformation.
“In 30 years, Bayelsa has grown. From one leader to another, they have added different layers of blocks to bring the state to this level. Yenagoa is no longer what it used to be; today, Yenagoa is a city,” Ogbuku stated.
Recalling a personal milestone connected to the state’s inception, Ogbuku revealed that the creation of Bayelsa State coincided with his admission into the university. According to him, the landmark event deepened his sense of identity and ignited his passion for public service and regional development.
Wishing the state continued progress, the NDDC boss prayed for sustained peace, unity, prosperity, and sustainable development for the government and residents of Bayelsa in the years ahead.
