Nigeria, June 23, 2016 – The Niger Delta Avengers has said it does not remember signing any agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria to cease ongoing hostility against oil companies operating in the Niger Delta.
The group, which made this known on its official tweeter handle said, “the NDA High Command never remember having any agreement on ceasefire with the Nigerian government”, it said.
The group which has been attacking oil installations in the region has in the past said it will be available for a dialogue that will bring lasting peace to the area but warned the Federal Government of Nigeria not to make it a political jamboree.
But shortly after making the concession, it alleged that some leaders of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta(MEND) have been parading themselves in corridors of powers in Edo and Delta State as representatives of ND Avengers, warning that any attempt to truncate the Niger Delta struggle which it said was to bring about meaningful standard of living in the area will not succeed.
