IKEJA, Lagos, Nigeria – Not less than 8 hoodlums have been arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squard, RRS, the crime fighting outfits of the Lagos State Government.
In a statement, the RRS said the hoodlums were arrested with machettes and axes and that residents confirmed them as members of the gang responsible for the mayhem.
We gathered they were arrested when the RRS operatives chased them into the inner streets of Idi-Oro, where they were nabbed.
Rival cult groups made the area a no go area for commuters this morning following violent clashes which has led to loss of properties and injuries to many.
According to sources, cult groups from Alamutu street, Idi Oro invaded Akala Elegba area, looting and setting shops ablaze.
So far, several people have been arrested while bags of marijuana and other exhibits were recovered by policemen.
The fight was said to have started Sunday evening during which many people were injured. Shops and schools have been shut in the area.
