Cops say woman ‘coached’ kids in sick lie to frame their father

By SCM Staff Writer, Enugu

ENUGU, Nigeria – A mother who accused her husband of defiling their two young daughters has been sensationally charged by police – after investigators claimed she made up the entire plot.

Chisom Okonkwo, 29, was dramatically hauled before a court in Nigeria after a police probe reportedly revealed she had “coached” her children to falsely accuse their father, Ozioma Okonkwo.

The shocking twist came after Mrs Okonkwo lodged a complaint with the Enugu State Police Command claiming her husband had been sexually abusing their daughters, aged just five and three, and threatening to kill her if she spoke out.

The Truth Emerges
The dad was immediately arrested, but a “diligent investigation” by the State Intelligence Department (SID) reportedly exposed the wife’s story as a pack of lies.

Police claim their investigation established that the periods in 2024 and 2025 during which Mrs Okonkwo alleged the abuse took place were actually when she had travelled with the children to their hometown in Imo State – leaving the accused husband hundreds of miles away.

The alleged frame-up was blown wide open by the couple’s seven-year-old son, who reportedly told police his mother had forced him and his sisters to lie.
The brave youngster gave two separate, handwritten voluntary statements clearing his father.

Police allege that the boy even disclosed that his mother had “coached him and his sisters to falsely accuse their father” – a fact the force claims is backed up by video evidence.

Attempted Cover-Up
Mrs Okonkwo reportedly attempted to withdraw the case and stop the police investigation when she realised the truth was coming out and the case would turn against her.

However, having failed to prove her “malicious allegations,” the mother was charged with defamation and giving false information to police.

She was granted bail by the Magistrate Court of Enugu State, where the case was adjourned for further hearing.

Police Commissioner CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa praised the investigating detectives for their thorough work, issuing a stern warning to others.
SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated that any complainant “found to have made false or malicious allegations would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.”
