BY OUR MAN AT THE DOCKS
EVERTON boss David Moyes delivered a brutal 3-0 lesson to his predecessor Sean Dyche yesterday, as the Toffees simply cruised past Nottingham Forest in a rocking atmosphere at the magnificent Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The £500 million mega-venue, built on the iconic Bramley-Moore Dock, continues to feel like a fortress for the Toffees, who completely steamrollered Dyche’s bewildered Forest side.
The Blues’ stunning new home was SHAKING from the off, with the home faithful baying for blood on Dyche’s emotional first return to the club he saved from the drop.
And the atmosphere paid off instantly!
It took just 83 seconds for the first goal to fly in—an own-goal from Nikola Milenkovic—as the Forest defender cruelly deflected Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s cross past his own keeper. The noise inside the Hill Dickinson was DEAFENING, confirming this stunning new ground is the perfect stage for the Toffees’ new era.
Forest were rattled by the stadium’s sheer scale and the non-stop racket from the stands. By the time Thierno Barry stroked home his first goal for the club just before the break, the game was already done and dusted.
The Docklands roar for Barry’s strike must have been heard back at the old Goodison Park, confirming that the spirit of the old ground has well and truly been transferred to the new.
A brilliant second-half finish from the outstanding Dewsbury-Hall, his third goal in four games, sealed the three points and sent Everton flying up the table.
Moyes’ men look transformed in their plush new surroundings. While the old Grand Old Lady of Goodison Park was a magnificent stadium, this state-of-the-art arena is quickly becoming a true blue fortress.
Poor Dyche barely stood a chance as his old team and their pumped-up fans gave him a welcome he’ll never forget!
