LAGOS, Nigeria – A SICKENING predator has been locked up for life after he was found guilty of conspiring and defiling an 11-year-old girl in a bathroom.
Emmanuel Lakehinde, a printer, was caged by an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for the horrific attack on his young neighbour’s daughter.
Justice Rahman Oshodi slammed Lakehinde with the maximum life sentence, declaring the ‘heinous offence’ was a massive breach of trust against one of society’s most vulnerable.
The monster was also handed a concurrent 10-year term for conspiracy.
The court heard that Lakehinde committed the vile act with an accomplice, Sesan Oluwole, who is currently on the run after being granted bail in 2015.
The attack took place on December 12, 2013, on Sanusi Street, Somolu, Lagos.
Judge Oshodi did not mince words as he sentenced the fiend, saying Lakehinde exploited his proximity to the young victim who lived in the same compound where he worked.
”You breached the trust that should exist between adults and children,” the Judge said directly to the convict.
The court heard that the survivor, who was only eleven years old at the time of the offence, was present in court with her grandfather for the sentencing.
The prosecution revealed that the girl and her family rejected a plea bargain request from Lakehinde, due to the ‘irreparable harm’ caused by his actions.
”The trauma resulting from your conduct will stay with her for the rest of her life,” Justice Oshodi stated.
In a move to send a ‘firm message’ that the sexual exploitation of children ‘will not be tolerated,’ the court ordered that Lakehinde’s name be entered into the Sex Offenders Register.
The life sentence means the beast will be spending the rest of his days at the Kirikiri Custodial Centre.
