FORGET the bar—Mondo Duplantis is aiming for the top of the charts! The world’s greatest pole vaulter has been handed a “license to thrill” in a whole new arena.

SCM can reveal that the Swedish superstar is swapping his spikes for a synthesizer to compose the official anthem for the brand-new World Athletics Ultimate Championship.

At just 26, Mondo is already a living legend. He recently cleared a mind-boggling 6.31m to break the world record for a staggering 15th time. But while he’s used to flying high in the stadium, he’s been quietly conquering the airwaves, too.

Mondo isn’t just a “celebrity DJ” playing at being a musician. This lad has serious pedigree:

His debut single, Bop, crashed into the Swedish charts last year.
His latest hit, Feelin’ Myself, has been streamed over 5.5 million times on Spotify.

He even performed live on national TV earlier this year!
Now, he’s been tasked by athletics bosses to create the “sonic identity” for the inaugural showpiece in Budapest this September.

The Ultimate Championship is set to be the “Champions League” of track and field. With a massive $10 million (£7.9m) prize pot, individual winners will pocket a cool $150,000 (£118k) for just three nights’ work.

Mondo, who was named the “Ultimate Star” for the event, says he’s ready to bring the noise.

”I’m always looking to push the boundaries, whether that’s on the runway or in the recording studio,” Mondo said. “I don’t just want to be an ambassador. I want to create an anthem that sums up the energy of this event.”

World Athletics President Sebastian Coe is backing his star man to deliver a hit. “Who better to create it than Mondo?” Coe said. “He has already proven his athletic and musical prowess.”

The three-evening spectacular (Sept 11-13) will see 400 of the world’s best athletes from 70 countries go head-to-head. And with Mondo’s beats pumping through the stadium speakers, the atmosphere is guaranteed to be electric.

From breaking records to breaking records—is there anything this man can’t do?
