APAPA, Lagos, Nigeria – Angry mob on Wednesday set two banks on Burma Road, Apapa, Lagos on fire throwing the whole of Apapa into confusion.

Diamond Bank, one of the banks set ablaze in Apapa.
We gathered that trouble started when one of the drivers parked his truck in front of one of the affected banks, leading to confrontation between a policeman attached to one of the banks and a driver.

According to eye witness account, failure of the driver to move the truck lead to heated debate, forcing the policeman to cock his AK 47 riffle and shot three of the drivers and thereafter retreated into one of the banks.

Sensing that three drivers are already down, the mob approached the affected bank demanding the bank to release the policeman who fired the shuts to them. We gathered the mob became angry when management of the bank refused to produce the policemen, forcing the mob to set Diamond Bank and Sterling Bank, two adjourning banks on fire.

Our source said the two banks were set alight because staff of one of the banks moved the trigger happy policeman from one of the banks to the other in a bid to get him out of reach, forcing the mob to set the two banks on fire.

We gathered that Apapa is currently a no go area for comutters as area boys have capitalised on the situation, vandalizing vehicles and looting properties.
