LAGOS, Nigeria – President Muhammadu Buhari has banned all mining activities in Zamfara State.
The president who made the revelation on his personal tweeter handle said the ban remains in force until further notice.
He also imposed a no fly zone Zamfara with immediate effect.
“President @MBuhari has approved the imposition and enforcement of a BAN on ALL mining activities in Zamfara State, with immediate effect, until further notice.
“The President has also approved that Zamfara State be declared a No-Fly-Zone with immediate effect”, he said. Zamfara has in recent times become notorious for illegal mining of gold.
