Military kills suicide bombers, scores of others in Borno

June 6, 2015 – Two suicide bombers leading a band of terrorists were among scores of those killed by troops who repelled  attack on Shetimari in Borno State on Thursday evening.

“Over 12 rifles and 1 machine gun were captured from the terrorists group as the attack was repelled. Also recovered from the group were rocket propelled grenades and some bombs”, Director of Military Information, Major Chris Olukolade said in a statement.

He said that troops are currently conducting a mop-up operation and are still combing the area while others are in pursuit of those on the run.

According to him, incidents of suicide bomb attacks were also recorded in Jimeta Yola and Maiduguri on Thursday evening.

He said that the offensive operations in Sambisa and other forest enclaves of the terrorists are continuing with intelligence activities, aerial surveillance and highly coordinated air bombardment backed by ground assaults.
