A ROTTEN Metropolitan Police officer who spewed a torrent of vile misogynistic and transphobic bile online has been unceremoniously booted out of the force.

PC Alejandro Varela-Garcia was sacked on the spot after bosses discovered his secret social media account was packed with deeply offensive and discriminatory posts.

The shamed officer—who was supposed to be keeping the streets safe with the Met’s South East Command Unit—shared shocking footage that mocked women, disabled people, and members of the LGBT+ community.

A fast-tracked misconduct hearing on Friday, 3 July, heard how Varela-Garcia completely trashed the professional standards of British policing.

Disciplinary chiefs found he had breached strict rules regarding equality and diversity, orders and instructions, and discreditable conduct.

His toxic online behavior was ruled to be gross misconduct, and he was dismissed without notice.

In a move to ensure he never wears a uniform again, Varela-Garcia has also been slapped onto the official barred list held by the College of Policing—preventing him from ever working in law enforcement again.

The scandal comes as Scotland Yard reveals it has undertaken a staggering, relentless purge of its own ranks, axing more than 1,500 officers and staff over the last three years alone in a desperate bid to win back shattered public trust.

Acting Detective Chief Superintendent James Derham, head of policing in the Met’s South East area, slammed the dismissed cop.
He said: “This officer’s behaviour fell far below that expected of any police officer.

“Members of the public need to have trust in the police and PC Varela-Garcia’s behaviour risks undermining that confidence in the force.”

The top cop added a fierce warning to other rogue officers, declaring: “We have relentlessly pursued and removed officers who do not meet the standards we expect.

”In the last three years, more than 1,500 officers and staff have been exited from the organisation as a result of this work.”

The sacking of PC Varela-Garcia is the latest grim chapter for the Metropolitan Police, which has been fighting for its survival against a tide of internal corruption, bigotry, and scandal.

The force’s massive three-year purge of 1,500 staff was triggered by a series of horrific high-profile crimes committed by serving personnel—most notably the kidnap, rape, and murder of Sarah Everard by serving firearms officer Wayne Couzens in 2021, and the unmasking of serial rapist cop David Carrick.

The consecutive scandals prompted the landmark Baroness Casey Review, a damning 363-page independent report that shook Scotland Yard to its absolute core.

The Casey Verdict: The independent review officially declared the Metropolitan Police to be “institutionally racist, misogynistic, and homophobic,” warning that the public had lost faith in the concept of policing by consent.

Baroness Casey’s explosive investigation exposed a toxic “boys’ club” culture where severe misconduct, sexual harassment, and hate speech were routinely ignored, swept under the carpet, or treated as lighthearted “banter.”

Crucially, the report laid bare a broken internal disciplinary framework. It revealed that the Met was historically terrified of sacking rogue officers, often letting offenders off with minor “reflective practices” rather than booting them out of the service.

In response to the report, Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley vowed to clean up the ranks by overhauling the vetting system and aggressively rooting out “bad apples.”

The dismissal of Varela-Garcia highlights that even as the force aggressively attempts to rebuild its reputation, Scotland Yard is still actively battling a deeply entrenched culture of prejudice within its ranks.
