TOTTENHAM proved they’ve still got the bottle for a European scrap last night as they tore apart FC Copenhagen with a stunning four-goal flurry—and did half of it with ten men!
The stunning 4-0 victory was defined by an outrageous goal-of-the-season contender from Dutchman Micky van de Ven, whose dazzling solo effort blew the roof off the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The night began with some anxiety following recent struggles, but the tension was sliced through in the 19th minute when Brennan Johnson showed ice in his veins, latching onto a slick through-ball to slot home the opener.
But the drama truly exploded shortly after the break.
Wilson Odobert doubled the lead in the 51st minute with a tap-in after Randal Kolo Muani brilliantly harried the Copenhagen keeper into a howler.
RED MIST, WHITE FIRE
Just five minutes later, the game was turned on its head. Johnson, the man who scored the first, saw his night end prematurely when a clumsy, late tackle was upgraded to a RED CARD after a VAR check.
The 10 men of Spurs could have crumbled. Instead, they went into overdrive, with the unbelievable highlight coming just moments later.
Centre-back Van de Ven, deep in his own penalty area, suddenly decided enough was enough.
He won the ball, dropped the shoulder, and transformed into a Dutch speed demon!
Micky bolted forward, weaving past four utterly bewildered Copenhagen players like they were statues in a museum. He then steamed into the visitors’ box and unleashed a thunderbolt that nearly ripped the net off its stanchions. It was a goal fit for the gods!
The £38 million man’s heroics were described by one pundit as watching “Lionel Messi reincarnated as a central defender.”
Substitute João Palhinha then applied the final gloss, slamming home a fourth after a powerful run and pass from Cristian Romero to seal the 4-0 humiliation.
Richarlison missed a penalty late on, but nothing could sour a glorious night that sees Spurs firmly back on track in Europe. They were magnificent, relentless, and completely unforgiving.
