France, June 15, 2016 – A 19 year old teenager girl was on Tuesday stabbed three times in Western France by a 33 year old man, stressing that he carried out the attack as Ramadan Sacrifice.
When interrogated, the man told the police he heard voices ordering him to make a sacrifice for Ramadan, the prosecutor in Rennes, Nicholas Jacquet said.
“Voices told him that he had to make a sacrifice on the occasion of Ramadan,” the holy Muslim fasting month that began on June 6, Jacquet said, adding that the assailants insisted that he was Muslim before handing over the knife after the attack.
The girl was attacked a day after a jihadist killed a French police couple in a small town near Paris.
The 32-year-old man was however assessed by a doctor and sent to a psychiatric hospital. AFP reported that the man stabbed the girl twice in the wrist and once in the abdomen.
The prosecutor told investigators that the assailant was being treated for schizophrenia and was supposed to receive an injection on Tuesday.
