In spite of these primitive tactics of Governor Nyesom Wike, I want to assure all our supporters and indeed all Rivers people that Dumo Lulu-Briggs is very much in the Rivers state Governorship race by the grace of God. We are not deterred by the pronouncement of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt as our legal team has promptly filed a notice of Appeal and a motion for stay of Execution of the judgment of Justice E. A. Obile

PORT HARCOURT, Rivers, Nigeria – The governorship candidate of Accord Party in Rivers state, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, has slammed the state governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for his travails, accusing him of orchestrating his nullification ahead of the March 9 governorship election and house of assembly election.
Speaking at a news conference in Port Harcourt, the state capital on Friday, he said the state governor is complicit in the cancellation of his ticket by a Federal High Port Harcourt, sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Justice E. A. Obile of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt had on Thursday nullified the candidature of Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs of the Accord Party in the state on the grounds that there was neither evidence before him indicating that he participated in the party’s primaries last October, nor was there any evidence to show that he was the rightful candidate who won the primary.
But, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, however, alleged: “We state in very strong terms that we are aware that this case is another dubious shenanigan by Governor Nyesom Wike who is afraid to go into any legitimate contest in the forthcoming Rivers State Governorship elections and is doing everything possible, including sponsoring court case against strong opponents in order to achieve his primitive ambition to contest the 2019 governorship election against himself alone.”
“Nyesom Wike’s connection in this dubious act is buttressed by the fact that Mr Precious Baridoo’s counsel Wori N. Wori Esq is from the law firm of Emmanuel. Aguma (SAN), the deceased immediate past Attorney General to Nyesom Wike,” adding that, “Mr Precious Baridoo got elected as chairman of the Rivers Interparty Advisory Council, IPAC, months after his purported nomination as Accord governorship candidate, a position known to be occupied only by the cronies of the governor.”
The governorship hopeful, who many in the state are touting as the favourite to get the support of the APC which has ruled itself out of the polls further stressed that Mr Baridoo has since been disowned by the National Working Committee, NWC, of the party because he is an appointee of the state governor.
He however urged his supporters to disregard the court ruling because, according to him, his legal team has appealed the judgment, seeking for a stay of execution, even as they have also applied for accelerated hearing at the appellant court.
Chief Lulu-Briggs emphasized; “In spite of these primitive tactics of Governor Nyesom Wike, I want to assure all our supporters and indeed all Rivers people that Dumo Lulu-Briggs is very much in the Rivers state Governorship race by the grace of God,” he appealed to his supporters, stressing that, “we are not deterred by the pronouncement of the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt as our legal team has promptly filed a notice of Appeal and a motion for stay of Execution of the judgment of Justice E. A. Obile.”
