BELARUS – President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko says that President Vladimir Putin of Russia has fulfilled his promise to deliver to his country tactical nuclear weapons.
Lukashenko who was speaking on Rossiya-1, the Russian state TV channel said the tactical nuclear weapons, Russia delivered to Belarus are three times more powerful than the atomic bombs that the United States of America deposited in the Japanese cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima in 1945.
“We have missiles and bombs that we have received from Russia”, he said, adding that “the bombs are three times more powerful than those (dropped on) Hiroshima and Nagasaki,” he said near a military forest storage facility in Belarus.
Speaking few days before the delivery of the nuclear arsenal, Lukashenko said he will not hesitate to use the weapons in response to potential aggressors.
“Why do we need them? To make sure not a single foreign soldier sets their foot on the Belarusian land again,”, he said, adding “God forbid that I have to make a decision to use these weapons. But there will be no hesitation in the event of an aggression against us.”
Lukashenko has been a trusted ally of Russia since the war in Ukraine began and has said in the past that he will not hesitate to join Russia in the war against Ukraine.
