MUNICH – Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez was back jogging at the Bundesliga champions’ training ground on Thursday, the first time since suffering a cruciate knee ligament tear at the World Cup.

He sustained the injury in France’s win over Australia in November. He will not return to match action this season and has seen Bayern recruit Daley Blind to cope with his absence.

Fellow Dutchman Matthijs de Ligt has also been in fine form in defence of late, in a centre-back berth previously occupied by Hernández.

The 27-year-old Hernández was in the stands alongside fellow long-term injury victim Manuel Neuer (broken leg) as Bayern knocked out Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday in the Champions League last 16.
