AWKA, Anambra – The Acting factional chairman of Labour Party (LP) in Anambra state Hon. Peter Okoye has stated that the Acting National chairman of the Party Alhaji Lamidi Apapa is not being sponsored by the President elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu or any body.
He made the statement in Awka Anambra state capital on Saturday while briefing the factional state Executives on the development at the national level. He said that Barr Julius Abure remained suspended and the new national acting chairman is Apapa.
According to him, Apapa is concerned about strengthening the management of the party.

“Those who are ignorant of the happenings in the party have continued to insult our chairman Lamidi Apapa. All that the people are saying about Apapa are false. Mind you, It is not true that Tinubu is sponsoring Apapa with the intention to destroy the party.
“Apapa is fighting against injustice and criminal activities in the party. He said that illegality in the party must stops and he has been in the party for over 20 years and nobody will come in now and destroy the party, when it is shining ” he said .
According to him, nobody is talking about N400 millions of which Abure diverted into his personal account.
He also stated that the court has sacked Abure as the acting national chairman and he remain suspended until the court of Appeal says otherwise. Okoye said that the insinuation that Apapa is against Obi is unfounded, rather Apapa interest is on the bad management of party by Abure.
“Obi is the reason we are here and he is the person who raise the party to where we are today and nobody is against him. We are all working for him to reclaim his mandate. Every member of Labour Party is a supporter Peter Obi” he said.
