MUNICH – A crowd of 38,365 watched Cologne against Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday, the biggest attendance ever recorded at a women’s Bundesliga game.

The figure beat the previous record of 23,200 set when Frankfurt played Bayern Munich in September.

“The courage of the clubs to go to big stadiums has paid off. The trend is sustainable and illustrates what is possible in women’s football,” said German Football Federation vice president Sabine Mammitzsch.

“This is a huge success and we want to continue this development.”
