KENSINGTON, West London – The London Metropolitan Police has cofirmed the death of six people in the fire incident that razed a 24 storey building in North Kensington, West London.
The police said the London Block fire occured very early morning. “These are very early stages and we do expect this figure to rise”, the Met police said, adding that emergency unit of the police was alerted by the incident at 00:54 AM.
Senior council chiefs say about 400 to 600 people live in the building situated near Lartmier road with about 74 people evacuated to various hospital in London for treatment, about 20 in critical condition.
About 40 fire engines, 200 fire fighters and many paramedics were deployed to the London Block Fire for search and rescue operation.
So far search and rescue operation has only reached the 19 and 20th floor.
