Legal Privilege Committee Elevates Onagoruwa, 16 Other lawyers to Senior Advocate of Nigeria

July 11, 2014 – The Legal Practitioner’s Privileges Committee (LPPC) has approved the conferment of the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) on 17 lawyers who have distinguished themselves in the profession.

Secretary to the LPPC and Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Mr. Sunday Olorundahunsi made the revelation in Abuja. He said the 17 were chosen out of the 109 legal practitioners that applied for elevation, adding that three women, two from the academics, were among the 109 lawyers that applied to the committee.

He further said the provision of the guideline for the award of the rank was strictly adhered to this year, adding that their inauguration has been slated for September 22, 2014, during the new legal year celebration.

Topping the list is former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation , Dr. Olu Onagoruwa. Others are Sylvanus Aghumele Ogwemoh, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan (from the University of Jos), Olusola Olaseni Idowu, Dr. Ernest Mabuachi Ojukwu (A former Director General of the Nigerian Law School), Ahamefula Ikechukwu Eke Ejelam, Chike George Onyemenam, Tawo Eja Tawo and Olatunde Oluranti Adejuyigbe.

Others are Dr. Adewale Adedamola Olawoyin, Dr. Joshua Olukayode Olatoke, Teslim Olatunde Busari, Kelvin Chukwudi Nwufo, Dr. Amuda-Kannike Abiodun, Oluwakemi Mufutau Balogun, Hakeem Olatunde Afolabi and Gerald Godwin E. Ezeuko.
