May 16, 2015 – Lagos State Residents’ Registration Agency (LASRRA) at the weekend commenced the distribution of resident cards to about three million residents in the state.

The weekend exercise focused on civil servants and it is expected to take care of fourteen thousand workers and will be in phases.

Speaking to reporters, General Manager of LASRRA, Ms. Olayinka Fashola said that the exercise marks the end of the life cycle of a budget.

She  also hinted that the demographic information that existed with the agency after the registration could be shared with relevant government agencies without compromising individual privacy.

Meanwhile, those who collected their resident cards lauded government’s initiative and commended the process from the point of registration to collection.

Some of the residents also advised the National Identity Management Commission to take a cue from LASRRA so as to ensure speedy and seamless distribution of national identity cards to Nigerians.

She said that a total of seventy thousand cards are ready for distribution across the state in the coming weeks.
