ATLETICO MADRID put on an absolute masterclass at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, putting a hapless Osasuna side to the sword in a ruthless 4-0 LaLiga destruction.

Diego Simeone’s galaxy of stars were firing on all cylinders in front of 60,869 bouncing home supporters, putting together a performance dripping with class, power, and precise quality.
The headlines belonged to Atletico’s sparkling attacking line, led by the dazzling Kang-in Lee and lethal Canadian international Jonathan David.

David set the tone early in the 24th minute, showing razor-sharp instincts to pounce after his initial attempt was parried, slotting home a clinical low strike to break the deadlock. The build-up featured crisp single-touch passes from midfield engine Koke and Sergio Reguilón, proving that Atletico’s superstars were in the mood to put on a show.

If the first half was a statement of intent, the second half was a complete annihilation. Kang-in Lee was the absolute star of the show, running the show between the lines with sublime footwork and eye-of-the-needle passing.

The South Korean star got the goal his majestic performance deserved nine minutes after the restart, meeting a sweet pass from David to steer a pinpoint right-footed finish low into the corner.

Defender Robin Le Normand then got in on the act on 63 minutes, showing the poise of a seasoned striker to turn in a loose ball following a corner kick and stretch the advantage to three. With the match well and truly wrapped up, substitute Alex Baena provided the icing on the cake eight minutes from time, finishing off a slick team move set up by Johnny Cardoso to send the home crowd into dreamland.

The story of the match was total and unyielding territorial dominance from start to finish. Atletico Madrid controlled almost 68 percent of the total ball possession, leaving Osasuna completely starved of the ball and chasing shadows.

The offensive statistics painted a picture of absolute siege; the hosts unleashed an incredible 27 total goal attempts—19 of which were struck inside the penalty box—and tested Osasuna goalkeeper Aitor Fernandez with 11 shots on target. By stark contrast, Osasuna were restricted to just three total efforts all night, with only a solitary shot forcing Jan Oblak into a save.

Simeone’s men were equally dominant in possession distribution, completing 656 passes at a stunning 88 percent accuracy rate, compared to Osasuna’s 314 completed passes at 74 percent accuracy.

The red-and-white tide repeatedly washed into the opposition box, with Atletico tallying 46 touches inside the Osasuna penalty box while allowing the visitors just nine at the other end. The hosts also earned eight corner kicks without giving away a single corner to Osasuna, driving home the total lack of threat from the visitors.

It was a display that sent a thunderous message across LaLiga: Atletico’s superstars are in peak form, and on nights like this, they look utterly unstoppable.
