Nigeria, June 28, 2016 – The Lagos State Government has suspended ongoing verification exercise for pensioners in the local 20 governments and 37 local council development areas.
The exercise which began on Monday came with a lot of hassles for hundreds of pensioners who besieged the venue at the old Secretariat opposite the Lagos State Police College.
The canopies provided were not enough, same with chairs, forcing many to sit on bare floor.
At least 3 pensioners collapsed in the process.
Addressing the pensioners this morning at the pension office in Ikeja, a senior officer in the Ministry of Pension and Establishments who did not mention his name said the exercise has been suspended until further notice.
He told the pensioners that they will be informed via the media when the exercise will commence.
