IKEJA, Nigeria – Lagos, Nigeria’s powerhouse city, has rolled out the big guns as it tries to turn its massive coastline into a goldmine, announcing the appointment of a ‘super technocrat’ to lead the charge.

Meet ESV Wasiu Adebayo Olayinka, the new Permanent Secretary (PS) for the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development.

He’s the man tasked with kicking off a massive land and sea development spree.

The move, described as a “strategic shuffle” by top state officials, aims to turbocharge the government’s vision for a ‘Greater Lagos’.

The city’s Commissioner, Hon. Ekundayo Alebiosu, was practically gushing over the appointment, calling it a reflection of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s “commitment to excellence.”

“We have merged a dynamic strategist and a distinguished technocrat,” Alebiosu declared, suggesting the combined leadership will push the boundaries of coastal development and asset optimization.

Dubbed a ‘Four-Degree Wonder,’ he boasts top qualifications in Estate Management, Law, Construction Management, AND Town Planning from some of Nigeria’s biggest institutions!

He’s already been pivotal in huge initiatives, including the high-tech Electronic Certificate of Occupancy (e-C of O) system.

His mission now is simple: Expand the waterfront, curb the illegal land grabbers, and unlock the “blue economy.”

For Lagos, the ‘blue economy’ means serious cash from its coastal resources, and Olayinka is the man expected to deliver the big bucks.

Commissioner Alebiosu was quick to promise “full cooperation,” adding, “I’m confident that your experience and leadership will further energize our team.”

In his first act, the new PS called on staff to stay loyal and focus on “teamwork and harmony,” making it clear that all hands must be on deck to deliver the Governor’s soaring vision for a richer, bigger Lagos.
