LAGOS, Nigeria – The Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) has formally admitted two prominent figures from Nigeria’s financial landscape—a senior state official and a bank managing director—as Associate Members (ACS), following their successful completion of the institute’s professional requirements.
Mr. Abayomi Samson Oluyomi, the Honourable Commissioner for Finance for Lagos State, and Mr. Oluwole Adelaja Adeniyi, Managing Director of Stanbic IBTC, were decorated as Chartered Stockbrokers at a special induction ceremony held at the Institute’s Secretariat in Lagos.
To achieve this status, both executives successfully navigated the CIS professional examinations and fulfilled a mandatory internship program supervised by veteran capital market professionals.
Mr. Oluropo Dada, FCS, the 13th President and Chairman of Council of the CIS, chaired the ceremony.
He acknowledged the rigorous process and praised both inductees for their “remarkable dedication, resilience, and discipline,” noting the challenge of balancing the demanding preparation with their existing executive roles.
In his address, Mr. Dada underscored the foundational importance of integrity within the stockbroking profession, welcoming the two men into the global network of Securities and Investment professionals.
The event marked a key milestone for the Nigerian capital market, as it integrates high-level governmental and banking experience into the professional community. Senior Fellows, Members of the Governing Council, a Past President, and other principal officers of the Institute were in attendance to celebrate the achievement.
The CIS expressed confidence that the newly inducted members will leverage their extensive experience to significantly enrich and strengthen the Nigerian capital market
