BUKINGHAM PALACE – King Charles III has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak after he lost SNAP election in the United Kingdom.

Sunak’s Conservative Party came third in the snap election, while the Labour Party lead by Keir Starmer won a majority, picking a total of 412 seats in Parliament.

In his Royal Communication to his subjects, the King said, Right Honourable Rishi Sunak, MP had an audience of the King this morning  and tendered his resignation as Prime Minister and as First Lord of the Treasury, which His Majesty has graciously pleased to accept”. 

The incoming Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, who will be the 58th Prime Minister of Britain is due to meet the King before driving to 10 Downing Street where he will give his inaugural speech.
