Umuahia, Nigeria, April 18, 2016 – The Abia State Government today demolished four buildings allegedly used for kidnapping and other related activities. The four buildings were situated at Etitiama Mkporo in Ohafia, Local Government Area.

The buildings situated at Ndinkefa compound in Amafo Autonomous Community, Nkporo haboured suspected kidnappers, who allegedly kidnapped a man at Aba and hid him in one of the demolished buildings.

Luck ran out of the kidnappers when villagers who noticed strange movements around the building reported to the traditional ruler of the community, who in turn alerted soldiers who rescued the target and arrested one of the suspect.

The main suspect, Agbai Agbai Kalu from Ndinkefa compound in Nkporo escaped and he is still at large. Speaking with the media after the demolition exercise, the Security Adviser to the Governor, Awa Udonsi Agwu (Captain Rtd) said existing law in the state which provides that buildings harboring kidnappers stands to be demolished.

He said the State Governor is serious about flushing out kidnappers from the state and will not hesitate to pull down any building involved in the crime.
