IKEJA, Lagos – Billionaire gangster Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike—better known by his terrifying nickname “Evans”—has been sensationally dragged back into court to face charges for the alleged murder of two police officers.
The convicted kidnap kingpin was rearraigned yesterday by the Lagos State Government on an amended five-count charge, which includes murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to kidnap.
Evans, who has already been convicted in two separate kidnap cases, appeared before Justice Oyindamola Ogala at the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, after the case was transferred from a previous judge.
Despite reports of a potential plea bargain, state prosecutor A. O. Azeez insisted the defendants had to be rearraigned on the fresh charges.
The notorious alleged criminal and his co-defendant, Joseph Ikenna Emeka, both pleaded NOT GUILTY to all five counts.
Double Murder
The most serious counts accuse the pair of a chilling double murder of two men—Peter Nweke and Chijioke Ngozi—on August 27, 2013, around 10:00 p.m. in the Festac Town area of Lagos.
Court documents allege the men were killed during a conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
Evans, famous for his high-stakes abductions, is currently juggling five different criminal cases involving kidnapping and murder in Nigeria’s courts.
The trial is set to ramp up as Justice Ogala has adjourned the matter until November 19, 2025, for a full hearing and the summoning of witnesses.
Would you like me to write another version of the story with a different tone, perhaps more serious or focusing on the legal process?
