NIGERIA – Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has approved payment of N30,000 as minimum wage for workers in Kebbi State. In a circular, signed by Secretary to the Kebbi State Government, Babale Umar Yauri said, the payment is with effect from September 2019.
According to the circular , “henceforth no employee of the State Government shall receive less than N30,000 as minimum wage”, the governor said in the circular.
He said the governor approved the payment despite constraints but following due consultation with the state House of Assembly, Labour Unions and relevant government agencies.
He urged the Local Government Councils to review the revenue profile and take steps to implement the minimum wage legislation immediately.
