KATSINA UNITED turned on the style at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, delivering a clinical 4-1 demolition of Ikorodu City that left the visitors from Lagos shell-shocked.

In a match billed as a clash of styles, it was the “Chanji Boys” who stole the limelight, dancing through a fragile Ikorodu defense to claim all three points in a dominant Round 37 display.

The star of the show, Jonas Yusuf, wasted no time in introducing himself to the Ikorodu backline. Just six minutes into the encounter, Yusuf found space in the box to fire home the opener, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

The pressure didn’t let up. By the 25th minute, Katsina were two to the good. Azeez Falolu stepped up to the penalty spot with the coolness of a Lagos breeze, slotting the ball home to double the advantage.

Before the “Oga Boys” from Ikorodu could even catch their breath, Yusuf struck again. In the 31st minute, the predatory forward bagged his second of the afternoon, effectively ending the contest before the halftime oranges were even sliced.

Jonas Yusuf (Katsina United): The undisputed Man of the Match. Two goals in the first half-hour showcased a striker at the peak of his powers.

Azeez Falolu (Katsina United): Orchestrated the midfield and showed nerves of steel from 12 yards.

D. Agara (Katsina United): Put the icing on the cake with a late fourth in the 84th minute to extinguish any hope of a miracle comeback.

Ikorodu City, who have surprised many this season with their high-flying position in the top three, looked a shadow of themselves in the Northern heat. While they managed a late consolation to avoid a total whitewash, the damage was already done.

The result puts a massive dent in Ikorodu’s aspirations at the top of the table, while Katsina United continues to prove that their home ground is a fortress few can breach.

For the Lagos side, it’s a long, quiet flight back south. For Katsina, it’s a night of celebration as they move up the standings with a performance that had “Star Power” written all over it.
