IKEJA, Lagos – Justice Yhaqub Gbadebo Oshoala has expressed his bitterness over rising cases of divorce in Nigeria.

The who handles a wide range of matters, from lands, family and criminal matter made the observation directly while adjudicating over a divorce issue brought before him by a lady seeking a divorce on the ground unpredictable and irritable behaviours of her husband.

The judge said last month he handled 15 cases of divorces and now going at the rate of three cases per day and wondered what the development portends for the future.

He asked: “What message is this development sending to the young ones about marriage”, he said adding that the trend is not good for the young ones.

Justice Y. G. Oshoala was one of the eight judges sworn in by HE Jide Sanwo-Olu on May 12, 2020, following their confirmation by the National Judicial Council.

“It is my fervent hope that our new Judges will work to make our Judiciary remain a true beacon of hope for the common man”, he said.
