LONDON – ​A SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy has been charged with manslaughter over a horror fire that claimed the life of a popular schoolgirl nearly three years ago.
​Tiffany Regis, 15, died after the “inferno” ripped through a block of flats on Tollgate Road in Beckton, East London, on April 6, 2023.

​The suspect, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was officially charged yesterday with manslaughter and arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.

​​The blaze, which devastated the community in the E6 area, sparked a long-running investigation by Met Police specialist crime officers.

Tiffany was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, leading to a massive outpouring of grief from friends and family who described her as a “bright light.”

​Following the breakthrough in the case, the Met confirmed the teenager was charged on Tuesday, 27 January.

​The Charges
​The youth faces three serious counts relating to the 2023 tragedy:
​Manslaughter
​Arson
​Arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered.

​The boy has been released on bail and is scheduled to appear at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 24 February.
