October 2, 2014 – There was wild jubilation at the Lagos Police Command and Police formation at Oduduwa, GRA area, Ikeja today over the redeployment of former female Police Public Relations officer, Mrs. Ngozi Braide to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID, Panti Yaba, Lagos.
Some of the policemen who spoke with our correspondent under anonymity were so excited over the new development, saying that the woman whom they described as draconian, used her position to oppress many.
“The woman was too harsh and merciless while dealing with her members of staff and other officers and men in the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in the Lagos command”.
“Despite that, she was also hostile to journalists that cover Police beat and some members of the public. Even her seniors were not left out from the hostility and arrogance”, they revealed.
It would be recalled that the first ever female PPRO, Lagos command don’t usually pick calls from anxious journalists who were eager to send reports to their respective office.
It was also noted that she always put up hot argument over the confirmation of stories even reporters have enough information before getting across to her.
Citing an example of her behaviour, a police source disclosed that the former female PPRO at one time detained a breast feeding police woman working under her for seven days for failure to come to work for two days.
However, the former PPRO who was learnt to be crying when she was asked to handover immediately to the new image maker, wrote a statement to newsmen that she was sorry to anyone she has wrong while doing her job as police spokesperson.
