ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Government has approved August 4th, immediately after the Sallah break, the Federal Ministry of Education has announced.

In a statement, the ministry said  that students in this classes will have two weeks to prepare for the West African Examination Council(WAEC) examination due to start August 17, 2020.

“These were the unanimous decisions reached today at the virtual consultative meeting between the Federal Ministry of Education and Honourable Commissioners of the 36 states, the Nigerian Union of Teachers,(NUT), the  proprietors of private schools and the Chief Executives of examination bodies”, the ministry said in a statement signed by its Director, Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ben Goong.

The statement also appealed to the Federal Government and public spirited individuals for assistance to the schools to fast track reopening of the schools as agreed.
