Plateau United 4-1 Ikorodu City

PLATEAU UNITED turned on the style in Jos yesterday, dismantling Ikorodu City with a clinical 4-1 demolition that proved there is simply no peak too high for the Tin City boys.
While the Lagos-based “Oga Boys” arrived with dreams of a giant-killing, they were quickly reminded that at the New Jos Stadium, United are the only kings of the hill. The hosts didn’t just win; they purred, leaving the visitors gasping for breath in the thin mountain air.
The star of the show was undoubtedly Victor Dawa, who put the exclamation mark on a dominant performance with a late strike that sent the home fans into delirium. Dawa was the conductor of the Plateau orchestra, drifting into pockets of space that the Ikorodu defense simply couldn’t plug.
After a cagey first half that ended goalless, the floodgates didn’t just open—they burst.
Plateau came out for the second period like a team possessed. Two quick-fire goals around the hour mark shattered Ikorodu’s resolve. The visitors briefly threatened a “Lagos Great Escape” when they clawed one back in the 80th minute to make it 2-1, but the hope lasted as long as a summer breeze.
United’s response was ruthless. They shifted through the gears, adding a third in the 88th minute before Dawa rounded off the scoring in stoppage time.
For Ikorodu City, it was a long flight home with plenty to ponder. They showed flashes of quality, but in the face of Plateau’s high-pressing stars, they looked like a side still finding their feet in the NPFL’s harshest environments.
On this evidence, Plateau United aren’t just looking at the table—they’re looking at the title.
