Jonathan Commiserates with Adams Oshiomhole as Chief Tayo Apata Passes On

October 15, 2014 -President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has commiserated with Governor Adams Oshiomhole and the people of Edo State on the death of prominent Nigerian administrator, educationist and elder statesman, Chief Tayo Akpata, who died on Tuesday after a brief ailment.

President Jonathan also extends sincere condolences to Chief Akpata’s widow, Chief (Mrs.) Olabisi Akpata, his children, grandchildren and other relatives.

In a statement, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Ruben Abati noted that as the family mourn their beloved husband, father and grandfather, the President urges them to take solace in the memory of Chief Akpata’s long, successful and very fulfilled life in the service of his family, community, state and country.

He said that President Jonathan believes that Nigeria will greatly miss the astute administrator who made notable contributions to national development through his outstanding work in the country’s public and private sectors in various capacities, including Trustee and Executive Secretary of the defunct Petroleum Trust Fund.

He prays that God Almighty will give Chief Akpata’s family, friends, associates and community the fortitude to bear his loss and grant his soul eternal rest.
