July 9, 2014 – President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday assigned portfolios to the four politicians he nominated, confirmed by the Senate last week.

Former Governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekerau is the new Minister for Education, the Afenifere Chieftain, Mr. Dayo Adeyeye is now the Minister of State for Works, Mr. Stephen Oru was assigned Minister for Niger Delta Affairs while Mr. Abdul Bulama was handed Minister of Science and Technology.

The four new ministers were inaugurated on Wednesday morning at the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting.

At the inauguration, the President announced that the Minister of Works, Alhaji Bashir Yuguda, will now move to the Ministry of National Planning and serve as the Minister of State for Finance, following resignation of Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Yerima Ngama.

He told the new ministers to be responsive and be ready to work with other ministers to ensure further development of the country.
