THE American intelligence chief tasked with stopping terror attacks has sensationally quit his post today, claiming the war in Iran is a “lie” pushed by Israel.
Joe Kent, the Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), stunned Washington by resigning with immediate effect, declaring he could “no longer in good conscience” support the bloody conflict.
In a blistering parting shot at President Trump’s administration, the former Green Beret hero alleged that the U.S. was “pressured” into the war by the “powerful American lobby” and Israeli officials.
‘No Imminent Threat’
Mr. Kent, 45, who lost his wife Shannon to a suicide bomber in Syria in 2019, claimed the public had been sold a pup.
”Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation,” Kent wrote in a bombshell letter posted to X (formerly Twitter). “It is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel.”
He went further, comparing the current escalation to the “disastrous” Iraq War, claiming a “misinformation campaign” had deceived the President into believing a swift victory was possible.
MAGA Mutiny?
The resignation marks the first major defection from the Trump inner circle since the conflict began. Kent, a staunch “America First” loyalist, had been a key ally of Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
His exit reveals a deep fracture within the Republican base, with the “Gold Star” husband warning that he cannot support sending “the next generation off to fight and die” in a war he believes serves no benefit to the American people.
Background: Who is Joe Kent?
- The Soldier: A retired Special Forces warrant officer with 11 combat deployments.
- The Husband: His wife, Navy cryptologic technician Shannon Kent, was killed in action in 2019.
- The Spy Chief: Appointed by Donald Trump in early 2025 and confirmed by the Senate in July 2025 to lead the NCTC.
- The Conflict: The U.S. has been engaged in direct military strikes against Iran throughout early 2026, leading to significant casualties on both sides and sparking global fears of a wider Middle East meltdown.
The White House has yet to comment on the resignation, but insiders suggest the “mutiny” from such a high-profile veteran will hit the administration hard.
